About Muralto
Historical dinners
Until 1881, the municipality of Muralto and the municipality of Orselina constituted a single public body, called Orselina. Since 1881, the split that sees the birth of the Municipality of Muralto, formed by that flap of land that was then called "lower bear". As the first mayor of the newly established municipality of Muralto was elected Francesco Scazziga. The first official session of the City Hall took place on 18 March 1881. Until 1926 the legislative body was the municipal assembly. The City Council was established by assembling decision of 31 October 1926
The coat of arms of the municipality represents the castle of Muralti in red colour on a white background, on which 3 lilies of red colour appear. It derives from the noble family of the Muraltes who had their own house in the castle of Muralto. Of this manor, located south of the Station between the Via Vittore Scazziga and the ancient Vicolo dei Muralti, there are only few traces
