FMV is an active electricity company. It is based in Switzerland, in the Canton of Valais. Located geographically in the heart of the Alps' water tower, in the upper Rhone valley, the core business of FMV is the production of electricity with the help of hydraulic energy. It transmits and markets electricity produced to its various customers, which are the main consumers. From the legal point of view, FMV is a private-law company. Founded in 1957 and based in Zion, the company has a share capital of 100 million Swiss francs (about 60 million euros). The mission of FMV is to contribute to the development of the hydraulic patrimony of the Valais public authorities, the Canton and the Common Dealers, thanks to its experience in particular in the field of yields of concessions and portfolio management, and to participate in the safety of electricity supply in Valais and Switzerland. In this way, it contributes concretely to the harmonious development of the Valaisan economy. According to the cantonal law LFMV, FMV is the mantle organization of the Canton's energy policy. Its shareholders are the Canton of Valais, public communities and some regional distributors. Positioning FMV is developing its activities around its three core business: production, transmission and electricity trade. It also provides services in various sectors of the electrical industry. Our generation plants use only hydraulic energy. They are man-made, perfectly integrated in their natural environment. With our production from renewable sources, FMV plays a concrete role in protecting the environment.
