Appointments for blood donation

The Basel Blood Donation Center is a charity foundation and member of the SRK blood donation service. We have the mandate of the Confederation to provide hemoderives to the health facilities of the Basel region. To this end we maintain a blood donation center in the center of Basel and a collection point in the Liestal cantonal hospital. We regularly conduct mobile blood donation campaigns in municipalities. We produce hemoderivates in the center and manage an immunohematological laboratory accredited by SAS.

The donated blood is used to treat people who have suffered severe blood loss due to accidents or operations. It is also used in the treatment of cancer, leukemia or other diseases.

About 50 percent of the blood needed in our region is lacking. To cover the entire requirement, we must buy emoderivated from the rest of Switzerland.
