In November 1996 the pet shop amaZOOnas was born. In Lucerna-Littau were found the suitable premises: 350 m2 of retail space and 350 m2 of outdoor space in a green context. For the owners Nicole von Däniken and Roberto Topatigh, this green space was a decisive factor in the choice of the location of the business. After all, keeping animals outdoors, adapted to their needs, is simply more suitable for the species that keep them indoors. "Our external structures consist of a 20 m3 flyer with large yellow-headed Amazons, an external fence of 150 m2 for dwarf goats, rabbits and piglets of India, as well as five ponds." Ponds host koi and red fish, as well as autochthonous fish species such as tinca, scardola, common choregone, minnow, amarillo, tin mussels and many more. From spring to autumn, amaZOOnas has the largest range of native fish from ponds and organics in the region. An exotic palm garden gives the outdoor facilities a Mediterranean atmosphere during the hottest months of the year.

amaZOOnas constantly strives to expand its standard range and offers rarities to interested and experienced owners. The result is a range of freshwater fish, brackish and salty, corals, amphibians, lizards, snakes, turtles, tartulas, scorpions, insects, rodents and birds unique in central Switzerland. The selection of live food animals for ornamental fish and terrarium animals is just as varied.
